BlackECE brings culturally affirming practice to life through professional development, community events, family resources, and shared learning. Learn more about each of our programs below.
Professional Development Institute
Our Institute for Culturally Affirming Practices for Black Children is a 5-session, 10-hour training series for early childhood educators, held live online. Each cohort is capped at 30 participants and covers topics from historical trauma to affirming Black language in the classroom.
BlackECE Symposium
Our flagship annual event brings together educators, advocates, families, and leaders from across California for two days of learning, connection, and culture.
Our 4th annual Symposium, “Sankofa Strong: Roots, Reflection, Rise,” takes place August 5 and 6 at The California Endowment in Los Angeles. This year also marks BlackECE’s 5th anniversary as an organization.
Black Family Culture Kits
A quarterly resource that brings Black history, language, and joy into the home. Each kit centers a different theme throughout the year, including food, hair, spring renewal, and Juneteenth, with books, activities, and materials made for Black families and their children.
BlackECE Book Club
Children’s books that celebrate and affirm Black culture, with read-along audio so families can listen together. We also welcome book recommendations from our community.
The BlackECE Store
A dedicated space where BlackECE’s community can register, purchase, and access BlackECE’s programs and resources, including the Professional Development Institute, Black Family Culture Kits, and more.
